This SGPGI Breast Health Program has following components
- Breast health care delivery- state of art comprehensive care at SGPGI
- Providing facilities for breast cancer screening and early diagnosis
- Conducting teaching and training sessions for trainees at SGPGI, as well as conducting continuing medical education programs under the brand name of “SGPGI Breast Courses”
- Carrying out meaningful, locally relevant clinical and basic research relating various facets of breast health.
- Community Breast Health activities- awareness campaigns, screening and detection camps.
The objectives of the SGPGI Breast Health Program are:
- Creating awareness about breast cancer and other breast diseases
- Disseminating information about warning signs, methods of diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and breast diseases
- Creating a state-of-art comprehensive patient care system for patients suffering from breast cancer and other breast diseases
- Aiding and organizing patient support groups for benefit of breast cancer patients, survivors and their families
- Carrying out high quality, contemporary and locally relevant academic and research activities
- Organizing continuing medical education programs and work-shops
- Conducting and co-ordinating multi-centre clinical research trials
- Conducting basic research
